As the leaves change and the crisp autumn air settles in, the Park Ridge Athletic Association would like to celebrate the conclusion of a fantastic fall season filled with energy, teamwork, and community spirit. We’re so proud of our athletes, coaches, and families who made this season such a success. Thank you to our commissioners, committees and volunteers.
But the fun doesn’t stop here — winter is just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for another exciting round of winter sports! Registration is now open for our Indoor Soccer and Basketball programs, so be sure to sign your kids up soon to secure their spot. Our winter programs offer a great way to stay active, build skills, and make new friends.
We also encourage families to get involved with the Park Ridge Athletic Association — whether it’s coaching, volunteering on the Board or a committee, there’s a place for everyone to be part of the action. The sustainability of PRAA depends on your engagement. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this winter season one to remember!
The PRAA soccer program has enjoyed a very successful season so far, covering players from Pre-K through 8th grade. Our younger groups (Pre-Kindergarten) wrapped up their sessions last weekend, with lots of kids learning, laughing, and loving the game. Our Sunday morning first and second grade program still has two weeks to run and has been incredibly enjoyable as well. The beautiful weather we’ve had through September and into October has really helped make the season a great experience for everyone.
This was also our first season competing in the NVSL league after several years in the NWBSA. It’s been a great experience for everyone, with away games being much more local and accessible for our teams and referees. The NVSL has provided a relaxed yet competitive environment where our players could learn, grow, and thrive.
The 3rd through 8th grade divisions continue into November, with 14 representative teams set to compete in the upcoming tournament. The first round kicks off this weekend, followed by the semifinals and finals in two weeks.
We also want to take a moment to personally and publicly thank all the volunteers, coaches, and parents who make this program possible. It simply doesn’t work without your time, energy, and support. Thank you for everything you do! GO OWLS!
It was an exciting season for our youth football program! The Mighty Mites had a great year, with many kids playing for the first time and showing tremendous growth under Coach Triano, who did an excellent job recruiting 20 players. The Pee Wees and Juniors continued to work hard, develop their skills and improve every week. It was great to watch them compete each week. The Juniors are still in the playoff hunt! The Seniors are heading into the playoffs and looking to finish the season strong!
It was an incredible season for our rec cheerleading program! All four squads attended summer choreography camps and worked hard all season mastering their halftime routines, a full book of cheers, and sideline dances to keep the crowds energized every weekend. We also proudly launched a brand-new toddler clinic with over 30 enthusiastic future cheerleaders, adding even more spirit to our program. With fresh new uniforms and poms matching the players’ updated colors, plus pink poms and bows for October breast cancer awareness month, our teams looked cohesive, confident, and full of pride all season long. We’re so proud of the progress our athletes made, the dedication of our coaches, and the support of our families who cheered alongside us. We’re excited to celebrate an amazing year at our upcoming end-of-season parties!
On October 25th and 26th, PRAA hosted the 1st PR Halloween Hardball Classic, a six team, 9U baseball tournament over at Colony Fields. The competition was fierce, and the fun was widespread. Our 9U Owls team made it to the championship game and was narrowly defeated by rivals Dumont. The Halloween themed event was a success and something we hope to continue in the future.
This fall, the PRE cheer program hosted a Toddler Cheer clinic for Owls cheer up and comers. Led by our cheer commissioners Krysta Harrick and Marissa DePiero, these future Owls had the opportunity to be introduced to the sport, make new friends, learn cheers, and even run out of the tunnel at the Pep Rally. The future of the cheer program is strong!
Over 100 Owls and their families descended on Boulders Stadium in late August to celebrate the end of the summer and start of the Fall Season to watch the NY Boulders in action. They were treated to a pregame parade, exciting game, and post-game fireworks. Thank you to everyone that participated. We look forward to future PRAA Events with the NY Boulders.
