A Message from the Board of Trustees

Wow! What a spring and summer season!! We are so proud of all our participants that took part in the spring and summer softball and baseball seasons. The passion, hard work and dedication was evident each time our Owls took the field.

We had multiple teams that represented Park Ridge deep into the playoffs both in the spring and summer, and some that walked away with League and Tournament Championships. The softball and baseball programs are strong and we would like to thank our Commissioners and coaches, and volunteers for their time and leadership.

As the spring is complete and summer is nearly in the rearview, we cannot help but notice the renewed energy for the upcoming Fall seasons. We look to fun and great competition on the gridiron and pitch. The football and cheer program have been hard at work during speed training, camps, and early practices, and the soccer program is not too far behind.

The Board remains committed to continuing to find ways to improve the experience and development of our Owls athlete. We hope to use this newsletter to highlight our athletes and recent PRAA activities.

PRAA GOlf outing grows in second year

The PRAA hosted the 2nd Annual Golf Outing at New York Country Club earlier this summer. The Golf Outing continues to grow in its second year and featured a variety of entertainment and prizes. Highlights of the event included a Golf Ball Cannon, Putting Contest, and signature beverages provided by The Mane Event.

The silent auction drew a lot of interest and included prizes from White Beeches Country Club, MLB Network, Closeout Bats, NJ Devils, NY Giants, and many more. We appreciate the support of all of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers.

Congratulations to Outing winners: Ryan Burdette, Anthony Caprio, Nate Brown, and Mike Gammarati. We are looking forward to the 3rd Annual event next year. More details in the upcoming months.

PR Rumble Pee Wee Softball Tournament A Success!

The PRAA Softball Program hosted its annual Pee Wee Tournament this past June dubbed the Park Ridge Rumble! Colony field hosted 9 local softball teams including two of our own for a great weekend of fun, competition, and camaraderie. Ultimately, the Township of Washington took the crown narrowly defeating Westwood, but it was an unforgettable weekend for our Owls. Spectators came out in full force to watch the competition, enjoy the community atmosphere, and eat at the food trucks! Thank you to our Softball Commissioners and volunteers for a great weekend.

11U Owls Compete at the Ripken Experience

The 11U Travel descended on The Ripken Experience in Aberdeen, Maryland this Summer. The Owls competed against teams from Pennsylvania and Connecticut. The Owls battled the competition and the heat for a great tournament experience. They even had a chance to take in an Aberdeen IronBirds game. It was a great weekend of baseball!

Basketball Program Seeking Co-Commissioner

We are seeking a passionate volunteer to help current Basketball Commissioner Dave Fedzina lead the basketball program. This role would oversee the basketball program for grades K - 4. This individual would assist with scheduling, uniforms, team/coach selection and also help lead the basketball committee with all other aspects of making sure our basketball program runs smoothly. Please email director@parkridgeathletics.com if you are interested in assisting.

preparing for action!

It’s been a strong start to the season for both the PRE Football and Cheer Teams. To prepare for the football season, the Football program underwent performance training with TNT Training to improve their movement, agility, and running performance.

The Cheer program hosted their week long training camp to help their athletes master the halftime routines and in-game cheers.  We appreciate the help of X-Factor Tumbling and United Spirit Sports of America for making our Cheer Camps a success!

Facility Improvements

You may notice a few subtle changes down at Sulak Field. We are currently in the process of installing a new batting cage for use by our baseball and softball programs. This should be completed in the next few weeks.

We have completed a renovation to the upstairs of the Snack Shack building a Sulak. This space will give our Football and Cheer Coaches more usable space for equipment storage, inventory, and football uniform sizing.  It will help preserve our equipment and uniforms.

Finally, with help from the Boro, we are replacing the old garage door behind the backstop of the small Sulak baseball field. We hope this will provide better efficiency for our coaches storing and moving equipment during the fall seasons.

We are committed to finding ways to improve existing fields and space. Stay tuned for more!
